Level of Difficulty
Nachal Gov (Short)
This short loop hike will take you about 3 hours. It will take you through the narrow Nachal Gov canyon located between the Roman Maaleh Akravim and the British Maaleh Akravim.
Follow the blue trail toward the creek bed. After a short downhill stretch, you will come to the green trail, which leads to the creek bed. Follow the green trail. At a certain point, the canyon will narrow and its sides will become more steep. At that point, you will need to use the handholds and stairs in the rocks. When then canyon widens, turn right onto the black trail. Following the black trail, climb along the bank of the creek bed. Toward the end of this climb, you will need to climb a ladder (6 m high). Follow the black trail toward the canyon and the green trail and then follow the green trail to your vehicle.
Nachal Gov runs through impressive, hard rock and is home to a variety of plants and animals.
From the Chetzbah Field School, drive north. After about 4 km, turn left toward Maaleh Akravim (opposite Moshav Eidan). Drive about 65 km heading toward Maaleh Akravim. Park by the sign for Roman Maaleh Akravim.
We recommend that those who are afraid of heights avoid the black trail and, instead, return the way they came (on the green trail).
